Daniel D. Acquiring Two Wives At Once (by accident)

Recently Jordanne went and visited Aunt Annie and she related the story Aunt Annie told her about Daniel D. acquiring two of his wives at the same time. Daniel had been away for some time (I'm not sure if it was a mission or work) and when he returned to Salt Lake City the Prophet, Brigham Young, told him on a Saturday to appear at the Endowment House on Tuesday with another wife. Daniel told him that he didn't know anyone in Salt Lake to marry and Brigham Young told him to appear on Tuesday with a wife.

Daniel went home and told his second wife (his first one had passed away) what the prophet told him and she said that he could marry one of two girls that had been really helpful to her while he was gone. Daniel went to the first of these, our great-grandmother, and asked her parents for permission to marry her. Her parents thought that she was too young at 14 to get married so they told him "no." Daniel left their house and immediately went to the next girl's house to ask her parents. They told him "yes" so they made the arrangements to meet the following Tuesday. As he was leaving her house, the first girl's parents arrived and told him that since the Prophet had told him to get a wife it would be okay with them. So instead of just one wife, Daniel obtained two.

So Daniel D. married the second girl first because she said "yes" first and our ancestor second.

Coming Attractions!

With the passing of mom, I have received a bunch of family biographies and documents that have been great to read about our family. I have decided to post some of the stuff I have been reading here, as a way to share the great history we all share. Hopefully I will get a nice scanner soon and will be able to post pictures and other documents as well. Feel free to contact me if you would like me to add anything or if you would like access to be able to post your own facts.

Further, I am going to start posting memories of Grandma and Grandpa as a way to record them, feel free to share your own memories.

Congrats to Jocee and Zorn

Cartr Edwin was born December 3, 2009 at about 2:30 am. He weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz. and is 19 inches long. He has two large dimples and blond hair. Both Mom and baby are doing great. Brejden and Mily both love him.

Congrats to Jase and Alicia

I realize I am a little late in posting this but I just found out. Jase and Alicia had Emily in October. This makes two girls for the two of them, Alli and Emily. Congrats to them both!

Congrats to Camille and Sean!

I just found out that yesterday Camille and Sean received a new addition to their family. Chloe's birth mother signed the adoption papers yesterday and now Chloe is joining the Cox family. She is already being spoiled by her two older brothers and older sister. We are so excited for them!!
